In light of the post-elect, I’m sick of adapting and passing through life having access to all of its conveniences and not appreciating those conveniences.

So fuck google for a week.

I have yet to complete my full week, but I’m choosing to do so next week (during Thanksgiving and traveling). Unfortunately, my job and school do rely a lot on google applications and with all of the events/projects going on, not using google completely would prevent me from being as productive in such a busy time. Next week is also good because it is split between work, school, home & New York, San Francisco, in the air.

Bryan attempted his week without google and I’d like to pull from some of his tips:

  • using Little Snitch for unwarranted google intrusions
  • disconnect.me to also track data collection from google

MY PLAN:

  • I’ll have my emails forwarded to my work email (Microsoft Outlook)
  • I’ll use firefox as my main browser
  • I won’t use digital maps at all
  • I won’t connect to wifi connections outside of my friends’ and I’s homes/safe spaces
  • I want to try and rely mostly on phonecalls

EXECUTION (literally and figuratively):

  • Every time I use google and/or slip up, I will donate $1 to a minority group organization
  • I would also like to tweet “I used Google”, because I feel like verbally recording “habits” helps me consciously absorb the difference between saying yes or no to a habit
